Beyond the Wall

Following Ted Walker‘s “On the Sea Wall”

I try to tap the border of my mind,
a wall unscalable, yet flash of light
comes over it unbidden, not defined
by rational thought, but lighting inward sight.
Beyond this wall is distance vast but near,
a timelessness that breeds a rythmic beat,
reality that pierces shadows here,
and stillness marked by quickly tapping feet.
In early years of life the wall is small
but language, speech and logic make it grow.
As sense and feeling fade the barriers fall,
a sudden flash can seem a halo glow.
A spark to light your loneliness will pall.
Why not converse with One beyond the wall?
