Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (1 Corinthians 13:7 NIV)
We children have a dad who’s good and fair,
he hands out treats, and chores, in equal share.
The teacher judges us and then she guides,
rewards the skilful and the slow she chides.
My foreman urges us to do our best
to prove that we are better than the rest.
The supervisor, on the other hand,
wants all his teams to be one merry band.
For every issue our PM makes clear
the way that we can trust, and what to fear.
Our Queen, however, takes a gentler part,
for all a listening ear and open heart.
The ministers who come to us in love
find us expecting all of the above.
They follow Him who led three years, then left.
Can we take that? Or do we stay bereft?
