Shortly after Pentecost Peter and John saw a cripple begging for money (Acts 3:1-8)
Peter: I’m terribly sorry, we’ve nothing for you,
Our treasurer’s gone and we’re broke too.
Cripple: Wha’? Took your cash and made a dash?
John: No, Judas hanged himself.
Cripple: When I’ve been in debt I’ve felt like that. But if I had money bags and two good legs, why would I?
Peter: He thought it OK to sell our master. But those buyers got him crucified and Judas couldn’t live with himself.
Cripple: How wrong! You must be pleased to be rid of Judas.
John: Not at all. We were all wrong. We ran away.
Peter: I denied that I knew him. Three times!
Cripple: You must have felt like Judas! But you’re still here?
John: Jesus came back! That really shook us. We knew we were guilty.
Cripple: Did he slam you for it?
Peter: He knew how we felt and said “Peace be with you.”
John: He forgave us. Would have forgiven Judas too. His crucifixion has become the sacrifice we needed to be freed from wrongs we have done.
Cripple: Could he free me, too?
John: He can give you freedom, and healing!
Cripple: If it’s not too good to be true, I’ll come with you!
Peter: Jesus heard you! Now’s your chance!
On your feet and join the dance!
