It’s what I’ve always done.
I have my place, my friends, my role.
I come for comfort and for care,
familiar songs and sincere prayer,
well known readings, well explained.
They help me turn my gaze from me –
my life, my friends, my frets, my needs –
to You – ah – the trivial reasons fade.
Now I know why I come!
Only You have the power
to make me clean inside,
to lift me up,
to give my life its meaning.
I come to worship, praise and thank,
open hearted, open eared.
Ready to be challenged and inspired,
to receive new insights, strength and joy,
to be empowered to love and serve…
…well, that’s the plan!
